The A4E condemns the attack on the European Member of Parliament, Dr Roberta Metsola

The Association for Equality (A4E) condemns the attack on the European Member of Parliament, Dr Roberta Metsola. Such comments foster and spread hatred on the basis of a different political outlook. The suggestion that she should be burnt alive identifies multiple crimes such as arson and public violence as a means of redressing differences of opinions. These are also crimes that are reminiscent of organised hate groups such as the KKK. The public persona of Dr Metsola does not, in any conceivable way, excuse this kind of attack. The implications of the Facebook post went beyond simple trolling and should not be tolerated in any way in a democratic country.
